More Details About Our 200 Rounds of 147gr JHP 9mm Ammo by Winchester Train & Defend
Winchester’s W Train & Defend line of ammunition actually comprises two different types of ammunition: full metal jacket for training (T), and jacketed hollow point for defense (D). Both subsets of ammo are ballistically matched and otherwise designed to offer virtually identical performance to one another. In theory, training with the T series rounds would thoroughly familiarize you with the costlier D series rounds.
These are the 9mm D series rounds, loaded with 147 grain JHPs. Even if you never touch the analogous T series rounds, you’ll find this ammo more than helpful during a dangerous altercation. The JHP unleashes rapid terminal expansion that takes the form of a broad six-pointed star, thus effectively transferring energy outward, stamping a wider wound channel into soft tissue than 0.355”, and lessening the risk of perilous over-penetration.
D series cartridges are designed to generate less recoil energy during ignition. That’s a welcome advantage, as it reduces the amount of muzzle rise which complicates rapid and accurate follow-up shots. This ammunition’s brass cases are additionally plated with nickel, a feature which promotes greater resistance to corrosion and lower friction during extraction and feeding.
