More Details About Our 50 Rounds of 158gr LFN .38 Spl Ammo by Winchester
You could argue that there is no such thing as an authentic 38 Special cowboy load. 1895 is usually cited as the end of the Wild West era. The 38 Special wasn’t designed until three years later. But you know what? Historical accuracy doesn’t matter a whole heck of a lot when you’re having a good time firing Winchester’s Super-X cowboy action ammunition.
This round’s bullet wouldn’t look unusual to a cowpoke. It is a 158 grain lead flat nose, which lacks the copper shell a bullet would need to feed reliably in a semi-automatic. Its absence of copper does more than merely make the LFN’s design more economical. It dramatically reduces the risk of splash-back while you are giving all your mighty to steel targets. The LFN’s profile also helps it connect correctly with the type of steel target that tilts backward on impact, and it also makes it safe to load in a lever gun.
This is a standard pressure cartridge, loaded to a muzzle velocity of 800 fps and safe for antique and modern firearms alike. Cowboys would have greatly appreciated this ammo’s noncorrosive Boxer primers, and handloaders will appreciate its virgin brass cases as well.
