More Details About Our 5 Rounds of #1 Buck 12ga Ammo by Winchester
This 12 Gauge shotshell by Winchester Super-X does it all – so long as you don’t count upland hunting and clay shooting. But if it’s home defense, deer hunting or predator detail you’re planning for, this ammo has you covered!
This 3” load is charged up with 24 pellets of #1 buckshot. That’s a whopping ~2-1/4 ounce column of 0.30” diameter lead shot pellets! The shell’s relatively low (and subsonic) muzzle velocity of 1,040 feet per second will prevent so hefty a shot column from launching you into orbit with its recoil. The shell additionally features granulated buffering, which does a good job of softening acceleration for its shot pellets so they can remain spherical enough to pattern in a narrow formation.
The smaller #1 buck pellet conserves a little less momentum in flight, which means it is less likely to over-penetrate a human-size target. That’s a perk if you’re considering ordering this ammo for home defense but also have your neighbors’ safety in mind. And because this shell packs so many shot pellets, it delivers an extremely dense pattern which excels for hunting in areas with lots of twigs and branches. A shell which can simultaneously put 24 holes into its target is effective for hunting and personal protection for very obvious reasons (the terminal effect is comparable to shooting a target two dozen times with a 22 LR pistol, although the wound channels are even wider).
