- Q & A
Self-defense ammunition is more powerful than target ammunition and when you add the higher pressure of +P, the difference is even more pronounced. For that reason it’s best to get some training time in with whatever defense ammunition you choose to conceal carry with. Of course, that can get incredibly expensive, and that’s where Speer comes in. Speer realized years ago that the cost of training using defense rounds could be prohibitive, so they came up with Speer Lawman. The Lawman line is designed to mimic the increased strength of defense ammunition in target ammunition form. It’s high-quality, realistic, and saves you money.
These Lawman rounds are medium-weight at 158 grain. They’re Total Metal Jacket designed specifically for self-defense training and honing your tactical skills and can also be used for target practice and plinking. They’re +P rounds so they’re even more powerful, and since many defense rounds are +P, that makes them more realistic. Each round has a muzzle velocity of 850 feet per second and muzzle energy of 253 foot-pounds. As TMJ rounds the bullet is entirely encased, meaning lead doesn’t escape into the air when you squeeze the trigger, which is good for your lungs and the lungs of everyone around you at the range.
There are 50 training rounds in this box. Speer manufactures all of its ammunition at their longtime plant in Lewiston, Idaho, right near the banks of the Snake River. They’ve been in business for more than 60 years and every bit of that long experience goes into the creation of your ammunition. These are superior training rounds, and if you take self-defense seriously, you should be training for it. Although the average target round has its place, these Speer Lawman rounds are head and shoulders – or should we say bullets and cases – above the rest. For realistic training and the chance to increase your marksmanship significantly, order a box of these Speer Lawman rounds.
