- Q & A
In 1968 Speer first came out with their Lawman ammunition. When it was new, the line included all centerfire ammunition and had an excellent reputation for quality and performance. But as time passed, Speer realized it could be improved, and Lawman evolved to become the training ammunition designed to more accurately mimic the power of defense ammunition. Using their famed Gold Dot defense rounds as their guideline, Speer carefully loaded this ammunition so its recoil and overall feel would give shooters the experience of firing defense rounds without the cost. Cost is often prohibitive in the firearms world, and Speer Lawman bridges the gap so realistic training can take place at reasonable prices.
At 230 grain these are heavy rounds, so they can more accurately mirror the performance of defense ammunition. They’re Total Metal Jacket, which is similar to Full Metal Jacket only the bullets are totally encased so lead doesn’t escape during range time. Each round zips towards your target with a muzzle velocity of 830 feet per second and meets it with a muzzle energy of 352 foot-pounds. This ammunition is specifically made for self-defense training and can also be used for target practice, shooting drills, and plinking. Speer manufactures these in new production brass cases with boxer primer, so you can burn through the entire case, reload them, and train some more.
Training should come in large quantities, and that’s why there are 1000 target rounds in this case. Of course, training should also have quality, and with Speer Lawman, you get that in spades – or should we say in ammunition? All of Speer’s ammunition is made at their longtime plant in Lewiston, Idaho, and the company adheres to stringent specifications for every round they make. Rigorous quality control and extensive testing are ways of life at Speer, so you know your ammunition isn’t just good, it’s great. In order to get the most realistic and useful training possible, order a case (or two) of Speer Lawman, and hone your marksmanship skills with the best.
