The .30-06 was made for the U.S. Army in 1906 and remained standard issue until the 1970’s. It’s a popular sporting round and a favorite of many hunters, mostly because it’s one powerful round. This cartridge is right at the upper limits of power the majority of shooters can handle; recoil energy above 20 foot-pounds will cause many shooters to flinch, and a .30-06 loaded with a 165 grain round puts out 20.1 foot-pounds of recoil energy. If you’ve shot a .30-06, odds are good you loved it, after all, what’s not to love about a cartridge with enough raw power to take down a bear but enough finesse to bag your limit of whitetail deer each season?
These are 180 grain rounds, so they’re pretty much medium-weight for the .30-06, if a bit on the lighter side. They’re FMJ and don’t expand on impact and, as with any target round, are prone to over-penetration. Rifle rounds can zip through the air for miles before coming to a voluntary stop, and there’s a good chance they’ll run into something you don’t want them to over those miles, so you need to have a reliable backstop when you shoot. Each of these rounds bursts from the barrel of your rifle with a muzzle velocity of 2673 foot-pounds and delivers serious power with a muzzle energy of 2856 foot-pounds. This ammunition is best for target practice, shooting drills, and plinking.
There are only 20 target rounds in this box, and although it’s a great size for tucking into your pocket when you go shooting, it’s still only 20 rounds. With that in mind you should consider buying multiple boxes, that way you don’t have to worry about running out before you’re ready. This ammunition is made by Sellier and Bellot, a company with almost 200 years of experience. Sellier and Bellot manufactures ammo at their plant in Vlasim, Czech Republic; all ammunition meets SAAMI or CIP specifications. Make sure you get some range time in before taking your .30-06 hunting. These FMJ rounds are good quality and will keep your rifle happy while you work on accuracy; order today and spend time with your favorite high-powered rifle.
