- Q & A
Shotgun shells have come a long ways over the years. When they were new they were made in brass cases similar to what we now see rifle rounds produced in and wadding was made of felt, cork, and leather with waterglass being used to hold the top overshot wad in place. No crimps were used on those early shells and the primers used were the same ones being used for pistol rounds. In the late 1800’s paper hulls began to replace the brass and it wasn’t until the 1960’s that plastic hulls began to see regular use. By the 1980’s plastic hulls had become the standard and today we have the left-to-right brass, gunpowder, over-powder wad, shot wad, buckshot, over-shot wad, and crimp.
These particular shotgun shells are made by Sellier and Bellot for your 12-gauge shotgun. Each shell is 2 ¾” in length and filled with #4 buckshot. These rounds soar towards your target with impressive speed at a muzzle velocity of 1210 feet per second and hit home with stunning power. This ammunition is great for hunting smaller game and predators such as coyotes. In addition to its hunting uses it’s also favored by many shotgun owners for home defense due to its lesser penetration than larger 00 buck rounds which might go through drywall.
You get 10 rounds in this single box of ammunition from Sellier and Bellot. Sellier and Bellot has been around since 1825, allowing them to experience the full evolution of shotgun shells. They’ve been manufacturing ammunition for almost 200 years and their experience has led to significant advances in the process, creating improved performance and reliable function. Ammunition is manufactured at their longtime plant in Vlasim, Czech Republic. Get your order in without delay and load your shotgun with shells from a legendary European company.
