Hot out of the Czech Republic, it’s 12 Gauge 00 buckshot ammunition by Sellier & Bellot! This shell fits the bill no matter what kind of shotgun-related activities await you: target shooting, hunting or home defense, S&B does it all.
This 2-3/4” shell holds nine pieces of 00 buck, which weigh a total of 1-1/8 ounces. Its 1,214 fps muzzle velocity gives it a dram equivalent of 3, so it ought to release enough energy to cycle a semi-auto. Each spherical solid lead pellet has a muzzle energy of 179 ft lbs; at 14 yards, the entire column of shot would transfer approximately 1,332 ft lbs of kinetic energy to its target, which is 33% more than the minimum typically recommended for deer hunting. The shell’s felt wad is spongy enough to avert shot deformation, but doesn’t have a significant impact on overall felt recoil.
S&B’s brass-plated steel head is 0.49” long. You could reload this ammo’s hulls in theory, although you would need card wads to restore the roll-crimped tube’s ability to contain shot. Ten shells per box, 25 boxes per case.
