- Q & A
The .45 ACP was designed by John Browning and came out in 1904. It was the U.S. Cavalry that began the process, asking for a round stronger than the .45 Colt Single Action Army of the day. Both the weaker version of the .45 and the rifle of the era, the .30-40 Krag, had failed horribly when it came to stopping the frantic charges of the warriors in the Philippine-American War, and the Cavalry didn’t want their men to go into battle poorly armed again. Although it took some time, the .45 ACP was eventually created, and it was General John T. Thompson who stated he wanted a real “man stopper,” and made the ultimate decision regarding the selection of the cartridge. Many firearms manufacturers wanted the honor of creating the first .45 ACP-chambered handgun, and it was Colt that won and created the M1911.
Today, there are quite a few options for .45 ACP ammunition, and if you carry yours for personal protection, you need a good quality American-made defense round. That’s what this Remington .45 ACP 230 grain JHP ammunition is meant for: protecting you and your family. These are JHP rounds, so they mushroom on impact, creating a devastating wound track, and at 230 grain these are decidedly heavy rounds, too. They have a muzzle velocity of 835 foot-pounds and a muzzle energy of 356 foot-pounds. If you have a .45 ACP, you clearly want massive knockdown power and these defense rounds up the ante even more.
This ammunition is manufactured at Remington’s Lonoke, Arkansas, plant by the talented Remington staff. Since 1816, Remington has set the bar high in the world of firearms and ammunition, and they’ve become world renowned for their quality and excellence. There are 25 defense rounds in this box of ammunition, so you can keep your handgun loaded for self-defense and fire a few practice rounds as well. In addition, these are also virgin brass cases with boxer primer, so after you fire them, you can police your brass and reload. Load your .45 ACP with defense rounds as compelling as your big, bold handgun.

Awesome ammo
on 4/14/2013I started shooting 45 ACP recently. First, with 230gr RN to get used to the firearm. Next, I did some research and found the Golden Saber had high marks. I have bought over 300 rounds since....there is no need for another round. If you have a 1911 or other 45ACP[I have a Beretta] ... this round will not disappoint. I've never had a jam or misfire. Plus, if you reload, hey, you get nickle plated casings! I would also suggest looking up the youtube review of the round. For defense and being able to put someone down, there is no other choice. Accurate and reliable, period.

- description of item does not read Golden Saber but the picture of the box of ammunition does say Golden Saber. Are these rounds Golden Saber bonded? Posted On: 3/19/2013 By: bryan
- These 45 ACP rounds from Remington feature the Golden Saber bullet. While similar to the bonded bullets, these do not include the bonded feature. The golden saber line from Remington is known for its controlled expansion upon impact. We have found these rounds to feed without issues in any modern pistol or cabine in 45ACP.
