- Q & A
During the Moro Rebellion, which was part of the Philippine-American War, the U.S. Cavalry discovered that their guns were fairly ineffectual against the adrenaline-fueled charges of the natives. At that time the cavalry carried calibers such as the .38 Long Colt and .30-40 Krag, and they noticed that the only guns that seemed to work very well worth those chambered in .45 Colt. Even those weren’t quite good enough, though, so the cavalry set about ordering the testing and work necessary to come up with a bigger, badder round. In the end it was John Browning who designed the .45 ACP in 1904, and the rest is, as they say, gun history.
If you own a gun chambered in .45 ACP, take a look at these Remington rounds. Each round weighs in at 230 grain, making them fairly heavy rounds for the cartridge size. At this weight these rounds will strike targets with greater force than their lighter counterparts. These are Jacketed Hollow Point, JHP, rounds and begin to expand immediately upon impact. Because they’re jacketed expansion is controlled and takes place more slowly than with standard HP rounds, resulting in a deeper, more devastating wound cavity. Each round has a muzzle velocity of 835 feet per second and muzzle energy of 356 foot-pounds. This ammunition is designed for self-defense use.
There are 20 defense rounds in this single box of Remington rounds. That’s just enough to keep your gun and spare magazine loaded and ready for the worst-case scenario. Defense rounds like these produce greater felt recoil and muzzle rise than target rounds, and that means you’ll need to train with your chosen defense rounds to ensure accuracy. One day your life could depend on whether or not you trained properly. These are brand new production, brass-cased rounds with boxer primer, so you can collect your spent casings, reload them, and get even more range time in. Remington manufactures these rounds at their factory in Lonoke, Arkansas. Order now and be well and truly prepared.
