- Q & A
The .40 S&W was created in 1990 following the 1986 FBI Miami shootout that ended with the deaths of FBI agents. Although the criminals were also dealt with in a final manner, it wasn’t without a high price, and the FBI immediately began testing to find a better ammunition option. Since they didn’t find what they wanted, they asked Smith and Wesson to make one, and in the end, the .40 S&W was born. Today it’s the most commonly issued service weapon for members of law enforcement all over the country and a favorite of civilians as well. If you own one, odds are you need some ammo.
These are heavy 180 grain rounds; they’ll punch a serious hole in your paper targets and blow away pop cans with ease. Because they’re Metal Case rounds, which are almost exactly like Full Metal Jacket, they don’t expand on impact, so they’re meant for target practice. They’re a great choice for range time, shooting drills, tactical training, and the days all you want to do is annihilate stationary targets. Each round moves swiftly with a muzzle velocity of 990 feet per second and hits home with a muzzle energy of 392 foot-pounds. And because Remington uses virgin brass cases with boxer primer, you can reload this ammunition and feed your gun all over again.
You get 50 target rounds here, which is a nice size box for stashing in your range back or stacking in your safe for a rainy day. Remington manufactures this ammunition at their established plant in Lonoke, Arkansas, and each round meets SAAMI specifications as well as their own stringent standards. After 200 years in business Remington’s ammunition is pretty fantastic; their legendary name may bring new shooters to them, but it’s their spectacular performance that keeps them coming back for more. If you want to spend serious time honing your marksmanship skills, use ammunition that both you and your gun will love. Place your order now and keep your gun loaded with ammunition from the oldest continuously running company in North America.
