- Q & A
The .40 S&W is more than just the cartridge created following the horrific bloodshed of the 1986 FBI Miami shootout. It goes far beyond its required ability to penetrate ballistic gelatin between 12” and 18”; the .40 is the perfect sweet spot between the 9mm and the 10mm. When it was created it became the first handgun caliber that could frequently use the same holster as other handguns, and versatility is always nice. And let’s not forget that the .357 SIG came into being as a direct result of the .40 S&W, and it wasn’t the only one to get its inspiration from the tough round. There’s a whole list of reasons the .40 S&W is an awesome cartridge, and if you’ve got a handgun chambered in this caliber, you want to feed it this American-made ammo.
Every shooter knows the name of Remington. The company was founded in 1816 by Eliphalet Remington when he decided to make his own flintlock rifle: he won second place in a competition with it, the crowd went wild, the orders poured in, and the rest is, well, firearms history. Today their ammunition is manufactured at their plant in Lonoke, Arkansas, though they have half a dozen locations for various purposes. Remington has a well-deserved reputation for excellence and is also the oldest manufacturer in North America to be constantly operating. When you want high quality, American-made ammunition from an esteemed company, you want Remington.
These are moderately heavy at 180 grain and are Metal Case, which is Remington’s FMJ line. They’re fantastic for target practice, shooting drills, and just putting holes in pop cans, and they’re non-corrosive, so they don’t put excessive friction on your gun’s barrel. Remington manufactures these in fresh brass cases with boxer primer, so you can reload them, increasing the value of your order. They have nice speed with a muzzle velocity of 990 feet per second and hit your target hard with a muzzle energy of 392 foot-pounds. And with 100 rounds in this box, you’re going to have a great day at the range. Place your order today to spend some time with your awesome handgun.
