- Q & A
The story of Prvi Partizan is a long and detailed one, beginning in 1927 when the founder, Jakob Posinger, was asked by the Yugoslavian government to move his workshop into the military barracks in Krcagovo. By 1928 the necessary production equipment had been moved into the new location, and within the first two years 150 staff members were busy at work in the factory. In 1935 the government decided to gift Posinger land to build a factory on, which was notable because it would be the very first privately-owned ammunition factory in the Balkans. It stayed that way until 1947 when it became state-owned and the name changed to Prvi Partizan. Today their ammunition is sold all over the world, and all because Jakob Posinger once worked hard to utilize whatever resources were available to him.
These Prvi Partizan rounds are made for your .40 S&W. As cartridges go the .40 S&W is young, having just been created in 1990 in response to the FBI’s desire for a new, more powerful round after the 1986 FBI Miami Shootout. Lengthy testing showed the round they wanted needed to be something with power similar to that of the 10mm, but with less felt recoil; the .40 S&W not only has that but also has drift and drop similar to that of the 9mm. In many ways it’s the sweet spot of the ammunition world thanks to its combination of strength and balance.
At 180 grain these are heavy rounds for the cartridge size, making them capable of hitting with significant force. These are Jacketed Hollow Point (JHP) rounds, meaning they expand in a controlled manner on impact, penetrating more deeply than HPs, creating a more devastating wound track. Each round moves down-range with a muzzle velocity of 935 feet per second and strikes its targets with a muzzle energy of 350 foot-pounds. This ammunition is meant for self-defense. There are 50 defense rounds in this box; ammunition is manufactured by Prvi Partizan at their plant in Uzice, Serbia. Carrying your handgun for personal protection means loading it with defense rounds, so order yours today to be ready for the worst-case scenario.
