Magtech Ammo
Magtech is one of the most successful ammunition brands in the world.
Magtech was officially founded in 1990, but the ammo manufacturer’s roots go back a lot further than that. Magtech really came to be in 1926, when Italian brothers Gianicola and Costabile Matarazzo established Fábrica Nacional de Cartuchos e Munições in São Paulo, Brazil.
Ten years later the brothers sold their company to Remington Arms and the now defunct Imperial Chemical Industries. Remington and ICI renamed their new holding Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos (CBC) – a name which CBC would keep when it became privately owned in 1979.
CBC Global Ammunition is a massive company. They purchased German ammo manufacturer MEN Metallwerk Elisenhütte GmbH in 2007, as well as Sellier & Bellot of the Czech Republic two years later. CBC also owns three separate factories in Brazil, plus a subsidiary location in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota just outside of the Twin Cities.
It is at their own factories where CBC Defense produces a wide range of firearms, ammunition and specialized equipment like bulletproof vests and grenade launchers for NATO military powers. In this fashion CBC has become one of the largest ammo suppliers in the world, which currently ships their products to over 100 countries. They have over 3,500 employees and churn out approximately 1.5 billion rounds of small arms ammunition every year!
CBC puts their astronomical production capacity to good use for non-military applications, too. Their factories manufacture Magtech ammunition for the civilian markets in over 90 countries. They make everything from .22 to .50 caliber handgun and rifle ammunition, as well as component primers for handloading enthusiasts.
Magtech doesn’t put their chips on fancy packaging, marketing gimmicks, or offering several different labels all promising the ideal performance for a wide range of applications. Their blue box simply stands for the exceptional yet affordable value that can only come from using high-quality raw materials, adhering to exacting production protocol, and subjecting every cartridge to rigorous quality assurance before it leaves the factory.
Whether you’re looking for serviceable target shooting ammo or something you can chamber with confidence in your everyday carry, the old Brazilian company has got you covered.
