Long-range shooting takes a special skill set and a lot of dedicated practice. There are a few tricks of the trade snipers use to increase their marksmanship, and you can use those same tricks to become a better shot, too. First, you need to collect data. You might not see the point in keeping a Data of Previous Engagements book, but every time you fire your rifle, there are variables that tell you a lot about both its capabilities and your own. Second, your rifle should be zeroed very specifically. Snipers don’t consider their rifles zeroed unless they’ve gotten 3 consecutive shots within a 1” group at 100 yards. Of course there’s more, but the third point today is knowing your ammunition. Different brands behave differently, so know what to expect, and use ammunition meant for long-range shots.
These rounds have a FMJBT – that’s Full Metal Jacket Boat Tail – and that means, first, they don’t expand when they reach their target, and they’ll penetrate and keep going. Also, the boat tail means they’re capable of resisting cross-winds more efficiently and have a flatter trajectory. Boat-tails were designed with long-range shooters in mind, so if you’re focused on becoming a better shot from afar, make sure you buy boat tails like these. Also, these are 62 grain, so they’re lightweight for the cartridge, which does increase their velocity capability. This ammunition is just right for target practice and tactical training.
You need to know about the company behind your ammunition. M.B.I. – Military Ballistic Industries – has an established reputation for producing high-quality remanufactured ammunition. These once-fired brass cases are boxer primed, and that means you can reload them. Not much sweeter than firing through your stash, collecting your brass, reloading, and firing it yet again. These are also American-made rounds, and you get 100 rounds in a sealed plastic bag when you place your order. If you want to make your skills match your desires, you need practice. And with this well-made remanufactured ammunition, you can practice without straining your finances. What are you waiting for?
