It is a jacketed hollow point, with a column of flexible polymer in its nose cavity called the “Flex Tip.” It prevents the bullet from clogging up with debris when it passes through heavy clothing or other tough barriers. That’s part of the reason why the FlexLock expands so reliably as it tunnels through soft tissue!

A bullet which is designed to neutralize a threat after passing through a barrier must also possess outstanding durability. That is why the FlexLock has a resilient high-antimony lead core, and that is also why its core and jacket are locked together by Hornady’s InterLock band. The InterLock assures exemplary weight retention without the need for expensive bonding.

The FlexLock’s jacket cannelure keeps the bullet from getting jerked out of its seating by the 357 Sig’s snappy recoil. This round’s case is plated with nickel to reduce the risk of feeding jams, protect against corrosion and make the round more visible in a handgun’s dark chamber. Critical Duty ammo is even better for self-defense in low-light environments thanks to its low-flash propellant, which is formulated to produce less of the muzzle flash that could force the shooter’s eyes to lose their acclimation to night conditions.
