- Q & A
At the end of World War II, a marksmanship instructor and sports shop owner by the name of Joyce Hornady noticed a serious lack of quality in the ammunition flooding the market. He noticed that the skill of the shooter didn’t matter; shots failed both with poor accuracy and subpar performance regardless of outside factors. His solution was to make his own ammunition not only for himself but for everyone, so he founded Hornady in 1949. Today, more than 60 years later, Hornady is one of the most well-respected companies in the country, known for producing high quality, reliable ammunition for hunters and sport shooters.
These particular Hornady rounds are made for your .308 Win. At 150 grain these are fairly heavy rounds, heavy enough to strike targets with a powerful impact yet light enough to soar down-range at incredible speeds. These are Soft Point, or SP, rounds and begin to expand immediately upon impact. SPs mushroom more slowly than HPs, penetrating more deeply and creating a larger, more devastating wound cavity. SPs can also be used in areas where HPs are banned. Each of these rounds produces a muzzle velocity of 2820 feet per second and muzzle energy of 2649 foot-pounds. This is Hornady’s American Whitetail ammunition, and the name says it all: this ammunition is meant for hunting whitetail deer.
When you order this box of ammunition from Hornady you get 20 rounds. That’s just enough to get started and give you and your rifle a taste of what these awesome rounds can do. If you want to make sure you don’t run out at an inopportune moment and that you have enough to zero your optics, get some target practice in, and go hunting, you’ll want to order more than one box. These are fresh brass cases with boxer primer, too, so you can collect your spent brass, reload it, and get even more trigger time in. Hornady manufactures ammunition at their longtime factory in Grand Island, Nebraska. Order now, and camo up.

on 10/29/2015These rounds are consistent box after box. My daughter has taken 3 deer in two years with this ammunition. She shoots a Savage Axis .308. We have shot roughly 10 boxes of this ammunition through her rifle shooting 1/2 MOA groups. Exceptionally better than expected, her rifle likes this particular type of bullet.
