More Details About Our 20 Rounds of 140gr InterLock .270 Win Ammo by Hornady
There are two kinds of trophies. One is an award that collects dust on your mantel. The other is currently in the woods just minding its own business. Hornady’s American Whitetail line of ammunition? It’s for the more exciting kind of trophy.
This 270 Win cartridge isn’t outfitted with just any old 140 grain soft point bullet. That is Hornady’s InterLock, which has a lot of performance-enhancing features under its hood. The InterLock’s one-piece core is not bonded to its jacket – but it is locked into it in two separate places. Both the cannelure and the raised InterLock ring prevent the bullet’s components from detaching from each other after impact, thus ensuring the deep enough wound channel to anchor a trophy quickly. The InterLock’s copper-alloy jacket is tapered so it becomes thinner the closer it gets to the tip. That alongside its upper section’s inner grooves promotes highly reliable expansion throughout the 270 Win’s long effective range.
This round dumps plenty of raw energy into its target. If you’re sticking to a 1,500 ft lbs minimum for elk hunting, the bullet will conserve at least that much energy until it reaches 412 yards. If you’re taking deer or even hog and are trying to hit with 1,000 ft lbs or more, then you’re looking at a much more generous 669 yards!
