More Details About Our 20 Rounds of 175gr FlexLock 10mm Ammo by Hornady
Hornady’s Critical Duty series ammunition is engineered for law enforcement officers. Not a cop? Not a problem! This is still 10mm ammo you can buy and trust to keep you safe when nothing else can.
This cartridge is loaded with Hornady’s own FlexLock projectile. You will notice right away that the 175 grain jacketed hollow point has something red in its nose cavity. That’s the Flex Tip: a polymer column which keeps the JHP’s opening unobstructed by debris, thus preserving its ability to expand after it pierces clothing and other barriers.
You would have to cut the FlexLock in half lengthwise to appreciate its InterLock band. This feature mechanically locks the bullet’s tough high-antimony lead core and copper jacket together, which ensures that the FlexLock stays intact during high-velocity impact. A bullet that retains its weight also retains its momentum – the reason why this ammo’s FlexLocks so reliably penetrate to a depth where they can quickly halt a threat.
This ammo’s cannelured bullets are firmly seated in the mouths of its nickel-plated brass cases. Nickel makes cases smoother and enhances functionality in semi-automatic firearms; it also keeps corrosion from making the ammo coarser and less reliable. Hornady’s Nebraska-made Critical Duty ammo is additionally loaded with flash-reduced propellant, which is formulated to emit less blinding light on ignition. That’ll be a welcome advantage if you ever have to defend yourself at night.
