More Details About Our 20 Rounds of 123gr FMJ 7.62x39mm Ammo by Golden Bear

7.62x39 ammo – a Soviet round with a history that runs red through Mother Russia!

The SKS was designed in 1945 by Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov, who made the rifle specifically for use on the front lines of the Russian military. Although the SKS was replaced by the AK-47 in the 1950s it did remain in use by their military for decades longer and continues to be used to this day in smaller capacities. It’s also been exported on a rather large scale to multiple countries including China, East Germany and North Korea, where it’s referred to as “Type 63.” The SKS was the second gun to be chambered in 7.62x39mm; the first gun chambered in this cartridge was the M43. If you own an SKS, you need some target rounds like these from Golden Bear.

This ammunition is made by Golden Bear, which is a subsidiary of the Barnaul Machine Tool Plant. At 123 grain these are considered relatively lightweight for the cartridge size, making them capable of reaching higher speeds as well as keeping felt recoil under control. These are Full Metal Jacket, or FMJ, rounds and do not expand on impact. In fact, target rounds like these can literally travel for miles before coming to a stop on their own, so make sure you have a solid backstop in place during target practice. After all, you have no way of knowing what the bullet might impact along its way. This ammunition is great for target practice, tactical training, and plinking.

There are 20 target rounds in this single box of Golden Bear ammunition. That’s just enough to give your rifle a snack and give you an idea of what these rounds can do. In order to save you money these rounds are produced using a bi-metal layering process, alternating copper and steel to create steel cases, which are berdan primed to ensure ignition and extend their shelf-life. Finished rounds are coated in a polymer for consistent cycling. Golden Bear manufactures this ammunition at the Barnaul Machine Tool Plant in Barnaul, Russia, according to SAAMI and CIP specifications. Order now and feed your SKS.
