- Q & A
To many shotgun aficionados the 16-gauge shotgun is seen as the perfect choice and a thing of ergonomic perfection. It’s even been called the most logical shotgun gauge, and back in the early part of the twentieth century it was referred to as the “gentlemen’s gauge.” It even has a long, rich history having been used for large-game hunting using solid ball projectiles and still seeing use in combination guns. However, the 16-gauge gets more love in Europe than it does here in the United States, which is a shame. It really is an excellent gauge and if you own one you know it’s true.
These 16-gauge rounds are manufactured for you by Fiocchi. Each shotshell measures 2 ¾” in length which is the most common length on the market today. Always be positive you know what length your shotgun is chambered for since using the wrong length can be disastrous for both you and your shotgun. These shotshells contain a 1 ounce load which provides enough power to propel pellets down-range with destructive force. Each round is filled with #7.5 shot and travels at a muzzle velocity of 1300 feet per second. This ammunition is meant for target practice.
When you order this big box of ammunition from Fiocchi you get 250 rounds: 10 boxes of 25 rounds each. That’s enough ammo to keep you and your shotgun going for some time which isn’t just a good thing, it’s a great thing. You can never have too much target practice or too much ammunition. Remember, there’s more to life than paper targets. Stationary objects such as watermelons in the summer and pumpkins in the fall make excellent targets, and don’t forget how well apples work especially when tossed into the air by a helping hand. Fiocchi’s headquarters are in Lecco, Italy, but they have a factory in Ozark, Missouri, for production in the United States. Order now to blow away some targets with your 16-gauge shotgun.
