More Details About Our 50 Rounds of 185gr FMJ-SWC .45 ACP Ammo by Federal Match

The .45 ACP is a powerful handgun with a few surprises for those who haven’t used one before. Although it’s true they’re capable of some rather massive knockdown power, they don’t produce the kind of felt recoil other large calibers such as the 10mm do. In fact, the .45 ACP produces an amount of felt recoil that is quite manageable when compared to the kick of its large-caliber brethren. Not only that its muzzle flash is fairly minimal as is muzzle flip. For a powerful gun it handles more smoothly than new shooters tend to expect, and that’s part of its appeal for many gun owners. If you own a .45 ACP you probably enjoy spending time at the range with it, and that means you’re going to need good quality target rounds.

These .45 ACP rounds are 185 grain, making them medium-weight. At this weight these rounds are still light enough to reach fairly high speeds but heavy enough that they make a serious impression on impact. This is Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) ammunition and as such won’t expand on impact. FMJ rounds tend to over-penetrate, which makes it even more important to have a solid backstop in place during range time. Each of these rounds leaves the barrel of your gun with a muzzle velocity of 770 feet per second a muzzle energy of 245 foot-pounds. These are Federal’s Gold Medal semi-wadcutter rounds designed for competition shooting, but they’re also good for target practice and shooting drills.

There are 50 target rounds in this single box of Federal ammunition. Federal was founded in 1922 by Charles Horn who used the marketing strategy of distributing ammunition in grocery stores and barber shops to get the company off the ground, and it worked. Before long the government offered Federal a contract to build and operate the Twin City Ordnance Plant and after years of extensive involvement supplying the US military with ammunition Federal was awarded an Army-Navy “E” for excellence. Today Federal has been in business for almost 100 years and their reputation precedes them. Ammunition is manufactured at their longtime plant in Anoka, Minnesota. Whether you’re a competition shooter or just looking for quality target rounds, place your order and enjoy these good quality, American-made rounds.

Guy, I haven't shot that ammo yet. I went to the range and loaded 8 rounds into my springfield armory 4.5 inch Ronin magazine and the rounds wouldn't feed, they jammed on the feed ramp and I had to drop the mag and then unjam the round off of the feed ramp. (REAL BUMMER) So I bought two 47d Wilson Combat magazines and the rounds feed just fine with 47d mags. I broke a hip so it will be another couple of weeks before I can get to the range and actually shoot these rounds. When I do I'll get back to you and let you know how they perform.

Sincerely RJ
