More Details About Our 1000 Rounds of 165gr JHP .40 S&W Ammo by Federal Hydra-Shok
Some people order a case of Federal Premium Personal Defense Hydra-Shok 40 S&W ammo because they want to train with the same rounds they’d bank on for safety. Others stock up because they want to make certain they’ll have enough .40 cal ammo during a crisis. These are both excellent plans – and we want to be an essential part of either of them.
This cartridge is loaded with its Minnesotan manufacturer’s own 165 grain Hydra-Shok. It is a jacketed hollow point that has been around for over three decades for one reason only: It works. The JHP’s 980 fps muzzle velocity out of a 4” barrel equals ample kinetic energy to neutralize a threat at ranges beyond 50 yards. Its distinctive center post and symmetrically notched jacket both serve to promote more uniform terminal expansion, which inflicts grave injury to soft tissue while simultaneously mitigating the risk of potentially dangerous over-penetration.
In addition to Federal’s reliable noncorrosive Boxer primers and low-fouling propellant, this ammo features nickel-plated brass cases. A thin plating of nickel protects brass against corrosion, as well as reduces friction to smooth out cycling in semi-automatic firearms. A case of 1,000 rounds is divided up 50 rounds to a box, so you can take a few to the range and store the rest somewhere safe and dry in the hope you will never need it.
