More Details About Our 20 Rounds of 110gr JHP .38 Spl Ammo by Federal
Recoil doesn’t just make shooting less comfortable. It also has the effect of jerking the barrel upward – a phenomenon known as “muzzle rise” – which means the shooter has to time restoring their aim on their target after firing each shot. When that target is a threat which means to do the shooter immediate bodily harm, muzzle rise becomes quite a problem. That is why Federal Premium designed this 38 Special ammo to produce extremely low recoil. It makes it easier to direct rapid, accurate fire when your whole life depends on it.
This low-recoil cartridge is loaded with Federal’s Hydra-Shok jacketed hollow point. Its light 110 grain weight contributes to the round’s lower recoil, but its 980 feet per second muzzle velocity (which Federal recorded with a 4” test barrel) means it still transfers sufficient kinetic energy to a close-range target for self-defense applications. The Hydra-Shok delivers reliable terminal expansion thanks to the unique center post in its nose cavity and symmetrically notched jacket, both of which help the bullet to increase in diameter as it bores into a soft medium.
This ammunition is loaded in Minnesota with highly reliable components, which include nickel-plated brass cases. In addition to making the cartridges more visible in the cylinder, nickel protects the cases from becoming corroded while they are exposed to humidity and sweat.
