More Details About This Corbon 90gr JHP .380 ACP Ammo

In 1908, John Browning produced a cartridge to be used with the era’s blowback pistols. They didn’t have a barrel locking mechanism; they didn’t, and don’t, need it. Their extremely low bolt thrust means all that’s needed is the recoil spring and mass of the slide to absorb the minimal recoil. As a result the barrel is typically permanently attached to the gun’s frame. The cartridge Browning made was the .380 ACP, a caliber known for its barely noticeable recoil and ease of concealment. Today, more than 100 years after its creation, it’s still a popular choice for self-defense and a number of pocket pistols have been made chambered in it.

These are 90 grain rounds, which puts them within the standard weight range for the cartridge. It is, of course, light, so it won’t increase your recoil and will move at a good speed. These are JHPs which offer controlled expansion on impact and penetrate more deeply than standard HP rounds. JHPs are designed to create traumatic wound tracks and are a nice choice for personal protection. Each of these rounds flies down-range with excellent speed at a muzzle velocity of 1050 feet per second and impact your target with a muzzle energy of 220 foot-pounds. This is defense ammunition and should be used as such, however, defense rounds have more power than target rounds, so it’s a good idea to get some range time in with them in advance to be sure you’re comfortable using them.

There are 20 defense rounds in this box of ammunition from Cor-Bon. Cor-Bon was founded in 1982 by Peter Pi Sr. who got his start making custom ammunition for himself and his friends to use on hunting trips in Africa. In the years preceding his founding the company there was a serious shortage of handgun rounds with suitable strength to be used hunting, and he decided to remedy that. His first creation was named the Penetrator and just one shot took down his first elk; using that same ammunition he also took down a bison with one shot. Cor-Bon ammunition is manufactured in South Dakota. Order your box of defense ammunition today and get a feel for the Cor-Bon difference.
