- Q & A
This 223 ammo by Brown Bear is an excellent choice if you're heading out to the range for some practice and plinking.
With a 55 grain full metal jacket projectile, these steel cased rounds are economical but should provide you with a great overall shooting experience as you look to improve your shooting skills with an AR-15. Keep in mind, because they are steel-cased, you likely won't want to choose Brown Bear if you are a reloader. Instead, you'd likely prefer a brass-cased cartridge.
When it comes to ballistics, you should expect a muzzle velocity in the ballpark of 3,140 feet per second with Brown Bear. The 55 gr full metal jacket projectile included with these rounds is consider fairly standard for range use. While you can find heavier bullets, 55 grain is largely considered the standard by .223 shooters.
These rounds come boxed with 20 rounds per box so you can take as many, or as few rounds to the range with you and reliably store the rest inside an ammo can or whatever means of ammo storage you prefer.
