- Q & A
When Boeing machinist Richard Speer founded CCI in 1951 he couldn’t have begun to imagine the company’s fantastic success more than 60 years down the road. In the beginning Richard had hoped to make brass cases for reloaders, but the supply was so devastatingly depleted by World War II that he realized there was simply nothing to be done for it but to wait. In the meantime he turned to primers, and it wasn’t long before he’d created a non-corrosive, non-mercuric primer. It was an instant hit not only with reloaders but with ammunition in general, and thanks to him CCI is still known today for their superior primers. Of course, they’re also known for good quality ammunition like these .357 Magnum rounds.
At 158 grain these are medium-weight .357 Magnum rounds; they’re light enough to reach high speeds and heavy enough to pack a serious punch, so you’re getting the best of both worlds. They’re JHPs; on impact they deliver controlled expansion, penetrating more deeply than standard HPs to create a catastrophic wound cavity. The jacket also prevents lead fouling in your gun’s barrel and increases the bullet’s overall strength, which means greater penetration capabilities. Each round has a muzzle velocity of 1150 feet per second and muzzle energy of 464 foot-pounds. This is meant for self-defense but can –and should – be used for realistic training at the range.
There are 50 defense rounds in this single box of ammunition. With 50 rounds you can keep your gun and speedloaders (or spare mags) loaded and ready for personal protection, or you can get some target practice in. Or you can order multiple boxes and do it all. Defense rounds have significantly greater power than target rounds, so it’s an absolute must to spend time training with them to ensure your ability to make accurate follow-up shots. That training could be the difference between living and dying if you’re ever attacked. CCI manufactures ammunition at their plant in Lewiston, Idaho. Don’t wait until the worst has already happened to defend yourself; order now, and be ready.
