More Details About Our 600 Rounds of 62gr FMJ M855 5.56x45 Ammo by Winchester
This ammunition is produced for Winchester by the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, whose products you’ve nearly certainly already used if you’ve been through basic training. Our Army’s 5.56x45 M855 ammo is perfect for civilians’ AR-15 rifles as well!
See the green paint on this round’s FMJ? That’s proof that its core contains a steel penetrator tip, which enhances its ability to pierce sheet metal and other common barriers.
The M855 bullet is a little heavier than normal at 62 grains, which promotes greater accuracy over longer distances. You’ll want a barrel with a 1:8 or 1:9 twist if you want to see this ammo’s best accuracy for yourself, although a 1:7 twist is great for anything other than long-distance sharpshooting.
This NATO spec ammo is loaded with non-corrosive Boxer primers, low-fouling powder and factory-fresh brass cases. Lake City doesn’t care so much about cosmetics, which is why this ammo’s cases are still gray around the areas where they were strengthened via heat treatment.
