- Q & A
The .22LR isn’t just for beginners, or for weekend plinking entertainment purposes. It’s also useful for improving some of your own skills as a more experienced shooter; here’s one way. One thing every shooter needs to master with long guns is shoulder pressure. There’s no such thing as the perfect amount of pressure, because it’s different for everyone. But what is true is saying you can hold your gun too loosely or too tightly; too loose and you lose control, too tight and accuracy suffers, among other things. Mastering pressure when you shoulder your long gun is an important skill, because without it, the rest of your shooting falls apart. No, the .22LR doesn’t produce much felt recoil at all, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t useful for some training time, especially to lay the foundation for larger caliber long guns.
You’ll need ammunition to practice – and more than a few dozen rounds, which we all know won’t last long at all. This ammunition is a lightweight 40 grain, which is within the standard weight range for .22 LR. It’s going to move nice and fast but it won’t produce the kind of energy you get from bigger calibers, so remember, shot placement is key. This is LRN ammunition and meant for target practice, shooting drills, and plinking; although the lead will deform a bit on impact, it’s not a HP and shouldn’t be confused with one. These are Remington’s high velocity rounds and have a muzzle velocity of 1255 feet per second and muzzle energy of 140 foot-pounds.
We said you need a lot of ammo to train properly, right? Well, in this box you get 5000 rounds. Yes, that’s five thousand. With this much ammunition you can get in some serious target practice and still have enough left over for plinking time. It’s made by Remington at their factory in Lonoke, Arkansas, and meets the same strict standards as all Remington ammunition. Remington’s been manufacturing ammunition for almost 200 years, and with that kind of experience you can be sure they know exactly what they’re doing – and that they do it well. Get your order in fast before someone else beats you to it.
