More Details About This Hornady 55gr V-MAX .223 Ammo
Wanna watch the fur really fly next time you go varmint hunting? Then a 223 Rem rifle and Hornady’s V-MAX ammunition are all that you need! You supply the rifle. We ship you the ammo!
This cartridge’s 55 grain V-MAX is a varmint’s worst-case scenario. Its polymer tip is seated on the thin rim of its jacket, and extends a long tail deep into the underlying swaged lead core’s nose cavity. The tip’s shaft builds up tremendous momentum when impact rams it inward. When it strikes the base of the cavity – bingo, bango, bongo – lightning-quick terminal fragmentation. The varmint won’t even begin to fathom what hit it!
The V-MAX is also extremely accurate. It’s an intensely rotationally stable bullet courtesy of its symmetrical tip, swaged core, and Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket, and its secant ogive profile effectively minimizes frontal air resistance. Hornady recorded the bullet’s muzzle velocity and resultant 0.255 G1 BC with a 24” barrel. Under those conditions, the trajectory looks like this:
0 yd: -1.5”
100 yd: 1.4”
200 yd: 0.0”
300 yd: -7.0”
400 yd: -21.4”
500 yd: -45.8”
