More Details About This PMC 147gr Jacketed Hollow-Point (JHP) 9mm Ammo
Premium label performance. Budget label prices. With PMC, you’re getting the best of both worlds.
The South Korean company’s SFX label is intended for law enforcement and civilian EDC. It’s the very best that a competent and well-funded ammo manufacturer can come up with. But since it’s not backed by flashy marketing and hasn’t got all that much brand awareness, PMC is not going to cost you too dearly.
This cartridge’s 147 grain bullet is called the “Starfire.” It’s a jacketed hollow point: a lead core, with a nose cavity to commence terminal expansion, as well as a nonferrous brass jacket that (A) makes the bullet durable enough to enter deeply into its target, and (B) facilitates expansion courtesy of its symmetrically skived rim. Expect the Starfire to inflict a deep wound column as it widens into the shape of a literal star.
PMC was founded in 1968. Since then they have become one of East Asia’s largest ammo producers, with civilian and LEO clientele all across the globe. PMC makes their own brass – not just brass cases, but literally brass – which is just one more reason why their stuff’s so insanely consistent.
