The government’s official reason for banning Russian-made ammo was to punish Russia for all the stuff it’s been up to lately. We do have a hunch that the government didn’t mind an opportunity to make affordable ammunition less available, though. But you know what? Whatever. Thanks to Maxx Tech, it’s still easy to get your hands on steel-cased 7.62x39!

This cartridge’s 123 grain full metal jacket projectile was made in the USA. It’s the same kind of FMJ you’d expect from any American manufacturer, which is to say that its lead core and brass jacket cannot attract a magnet.

This round’s FMJ is seated in a foreign-made steel case. It’s coated in polymer to protect it against corrosion in storage, as well as Berdan primed (albeit 100% noncorrosive). Take care that steel cases aren’t reloadable. They’re too rigid to return to form following ignition, and their dual flash holes aren’t compatible with standard Boxer-style component primers.
