More Details About Our 200 Rounds of 62gr FMJ .223 Ammo by Hornady BLACK
If your rifle is chambered for 223 Rem – or 5.56x45, for that matter – then Hornady BLACK ammunition ought to cycle through it like greased thunder. This all-American ammo is optimized to treat shooters to flawless functionality regardless of what kind of hardware they’re packing!
This cartridge isn’t M855 spec. No 223 Rem round is. But that doesn’t mean it can’t have a 62 grain full metal jacket projectile that clears a 24” barrel’s muzzle at a velocity of 3,100 fps – quite similar to an M855! The range-compliant steel-free nonmagnetic FMJ boasts a relatively high G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.274, which means it defeats frontal air resistance effectively enough to conserve 69% of its velocity at 300 yards, as well as drop to -7.5” at 300 yards after having passed a 200-yard zero.
Hornady doesn’t make a high-quality bullet and then call it a day. This ammo owes its reliable operation to its strong, straight and concentric brass cases, its touch-fire Boxer primers, and its propellant that doesn’t punish high-volume shooters with excessively sooty bores.
