This round features a 170 grain bullet. While that is a heavier bullet for a 30-30 round to offer, it still manages a fast 2,200 fps muzzle velocity. It accordingly transfers nearly 1,000 ft lbs of energy at 200 yards. This pretty much means that if you can hit a whitetail with a 30-30, then this round has the power to kill it ethically.

This round’s bullet puts so much energy to good use. As a JSP, its jacket strengthens the bullet for assured deep penetration. The bullet’s exposed core will proceed to splay outward for shocking energy transfer coupled with a wide wound cavity, all while the jacket prevents splintering which could impact weight retention.
