More Details About Our 20 Rounds of 62gr Open Tip .223 Ammo by Winchester
You can’t go to the rifle range without first making certain you’re totally ready. Have you got your rifle? Your magazines? Your nose plugs in case your range buddies invite you to go synchronized swimming with them afterward? Some chocolate chip cookies in case you get hungry? That’s all well and good, but you’re not really ready ready until you’ve got at least one box of Winchester’s USA Ready ammunition.
This 223 Rem cartridge is built around accuracy. Its 62 grain bullet is a little heavier than the usual 55 grains, which gives it greater immunity to wind drift downrange. More importantly, this is an open tip bullet. If you’re new to ammo, don’t assume that the open tip’s little hollow point means that it expands as it penetrates a target. That opening actually exists because this bullet’s lead core was poured through it while it was still molten. Because of this the bullet’s core is literally formed to its jacket, providing exemplary weight distribution as the result. This bullet’s thin wall jacket itself is highly concentric, and furthermore shields the core against hot propellant gasses to retain its uniform shape. It all comes together to provide brilliant accuracy at the range.
These rounds come outfitted with match grade Boxer primers. Along with their uniformly loaded propellant charges they deliver a very consistent 3,065 fps muzzle velocity. These rounds’ precision formed brass cases seat their bullets nice and flat to make their performance even more consistent still, so you’ll be able to group your shots through bullseyes with gusto.
