More Details About This Underwood 300 gr XTP .50 Action Express Ammo
The 50 Action Express offers the sheer brute force needed to neutralize any threat to your safety – not to mention instantly anchor any medium game you name. But if you want a bullet that really puts the 50 AE’s fantastic potential on full display, then you want the Hornady eXtreme Terminal Performance jacketed hollow point!
This round’s 300 grain XTP doesn’t have a conventional plated jacket. It is drawn, which is why it is thicker around its base and thinner around its rim – features which promote deeper penetration and wider expansion, respectively. The XTP’s jacket also extends to fully shield its rim, which helps prevent the bullet from losing its symmetry when it bumps against the feed ramp – as well as ensure that it the bullet enters soft tissue with its capacity for terminal expansion fully intact. And because the XTP’s base is fully jacketed, you don’t have to worry about lead getting stuck inside a Desert Eagle’s gas orifice holes.
Underwood knows that you may choose to fire this ammo at night. That’s why they loaded it with low-flash powder, which minimizes the intensity of muzzle flash. Nickel-plated brass cases enhance performance by warding off corrosion, reducing metal-on-metal friction during cycling, and making the cartridge easier to see during a chamber check in poorly lit environments.
