More Details About This Remington 220gr Open Tip .300 AAC Blackout Ammo
Remington’s UMC division operates around a neat concept: Reduce production costs by focusing solely on Americans’ favorite rifle and pistol cartridges. And considering how much the 300 AAC Blackout fans love their subsonic loads, we’re sure we’re going to sell out of this ammo in a heartbeat!
This round takes advantage of the 300 Blackout’s ability to seat a really heavy bullet. At 220 grains this beast just doesn’t have what it takes to break the sound barrier! Its 1,015 fps muzzle velocity is ideal for suppressors, but it’s going to be quieter than a supersonic load even without a can to stifle its report.
The open tip flat base bullet is optimized for accuracy, not to deliver the deadly terminal performance you’d want for deer hunting. A flat base provides a clean, level surface for propellant gasses to push up against, which is one reason for this bullet’s great accuracy. The other is its hollow point meplat, which enabled Remington to pour the core’s lead into the jacket while it was still liquid. The core is form-fitted because it hardened in place, making for an intensely rotationally stable projectile all in all.
This ammo has brand new brass cases. Expect them to chamber neatly, seal the chamber effectively, and offer ongoing value as reloading components. UMC primers are of course non-corrosive, and their propellant charges are similarly clean-burning. Don’t wait a minute longer than you have to to snap up this American-made range ammo!
